A soft_isticated workplace project

Apply softness to the sophisticated. This concept, called soft_isticated, was introduced by Idoia Otegui for these offices of the insurance company Markel, located in Madrid, whose execution ended in 2024.

What embraced the soft_isticated? “Fluidity and continuity in the design through the generosity of open spaces, with solutions such as rounded corners,” says Otegui. Among the classics of the workplace, he fled from conventional screens, looking for a different enclosure, “more domestic, friendly and elegant”.

To achieve this atmosphere, the company relied on materials “with soft, smooth textures, very adaptable to these rounded configurations, which transmit security and beauty.” Technical woods have been the main tool “for their authentic and beautiful finishes that, in addition, are more suitable for a workplace project due to their price and maintenance”.

We can see Fibracolour Negro Plast Ignífugo Roble Mina Boreal in screens, Fibraplast Roble Hera Sega and Fibraplast Blanco LBE Editable in panelling, Fimaplast Gris Coco Boreal in cabinets, Fibraplast Roble Mina Boreal in furniture, Superpan Plus Cashmere Technical Matt on meeting tables and Superpan Plus Verde Glencoe Technical Matt on kitchen fronts.

Small details are key: “from where to leave a bag in the meeting room or elements that allow everything to be more organized”. Otegui values precisely the comfort and versatility of offices as attraction factors; “only in this way will we get people to want to come here to work instead of staying at home”.
