Foldable tiny houses: five designs that reinvent compact housing

The tiny houses are no longer just refuges for free spirits or temporary solutions for weekend getaways.Currently, these compact and efficient housing units are winning land as viable alternatives and stable than the traditional residential model. Folding versions, in particular, enable you to optimise resources and space without compromising comfort or design. We’ve selected five designs that demonstrate how small architecture can have a big impact.

Brette Haus: from the truck to home in three hours

A 28 m² home that folds into a cube, is easily transported, and can be set up in just three hours. The system developed by the Latvian company Brette Haus means these homes do not require a fixed foundation, making them easy to relocate as needed. Made with sustainable cross-laminated timber, these homes are affordable, ready-to-move-in options, perfect for rural getaways or as an emergency housing solution.

Shaye’s Tiny: Functional design from New Zealand

Designed by Lara Design and manufactured by Noma House, this tiny house company is one of the pioneers, having been in operation for over 12 years in New Zealand. Its approach is to have everything on one floor, without using false ceilings or lofts to incorporate the bedroom, and also offers custom storage solutions. Its seamless layout facilitates accessibility, and its interior design takes advantage of every corner. With prices starting at €104,300, it is emerging as a real alternative in the mobile home boom.

KEU Family: the luxury fits in 42 m²

With a more exclusive approach and from Spain, KEU Mobile Home has created a tiny house equipped with every comfort: an Italian kitchen, state-of-the-art air conditioning systems, LED lighting, and high-end finishes. Its design is conceived to offer a home experience comparable to that of a luxury residence, as is the case with other mobile home models with a residential aesthetic.

Tini Living: modular and sustainable

Starting at €35,800, the XS models from Tini Living, also from Spain, feature compact architecture with high performance. Each unit includes a kitchen, full bathroom, heating, high-efficiency insulation, and can be customised in detail. Its ability to integrate into larger architectural projects makes it a solution for those seeking a stable home, as demonstrated by the tiny house developed by DATAB.

Wahbi Premium: a family solution in 36 m²

Manufactured by the Spanish company Woodvile, this tiny house with three bedrooms, a kitchen, and a bathroom offers a functional solution for families looking to reduce their footprint without sacrificing space. Installation takes a week and starts at €43,000. The wooden structure and integrated energy and water systems make it a compact yet complete home.

These five proposals demonstrate that the concept of home is not at odds with size. From mobile options to permanent modular solutions, foldable tiny homes offer access to efficient, personalised, and sustainable housing. An architecture that not only adapts to the terrain, but also to new, more conscious, accessible, and flexible ways of living.
