The year of design in Spain does not start until February, the month when Madrid Design Festival proposes a programme featuring established and emerging talents throughout the city. From Connections by Finsa, as every year, we select the most outstanding milestones, although there is always much more to see and that is why we invite you to visit the website to find out about the entire programme.
Let’s go for our six must-sees at Madrid Design Festival 2026, an edition in which the festival seeks to redesign the world around four axes: responsibility to respond to contemporary challenges, emphasising the transcendence of design, as well as its impact on transforming environments and the transmission of knowledge between generations.
Three established careers at the MDF Awards 2026
The legacy of habitat professionals is recognised at the Madrid Design Festival Awards. In 2026, the award recognises the career of curator and gallery owner Rossana Orlandi, industrial designer Konstantin Grcic, and architect Juli Capella, who wanted to be an inventor, as he told us at Connections by Finsa.

All design disciplines in one space: MINI Award
The MINI Design Award is the only one in Spain that integrates all disciplines -industrial, product, digital, graphic, fashion, lighting, architecture, urban planning and thought- with the purpose of identifying projects with a positive impact on cities in two categories: professional and new talents.
This award goes beyond applause and accompanies the selected initiatives a year later, in order to share the impact that the award had on their development. Inma Bermúdez, Izaskun Chinchilla and Daniel Ibáñez were some of the winning profiles.
Second edition of Design à Trois
Following the success of the first edition of Design à Trois, the event that connects companies and emerging creative talent, in 2026, Madrid Design Festival and the Community of Madrid are once again promoting two days in which twelve companies will host designers and students from different disciplines to generate real collaborations.

Forest Bathing by Finsa at Fiesta Design
Between February 12 and 22 at the Macpherson Room, Fiesta Design will offer a digital disconnection through a “forest bathing”, a space where you can reconnect with physical books as inspiring elements. This is a conceptualisation promoted by Finsa with Enorme Studio and the landscape architect Álex Fenollar.

The book as a design source for wellness spaces
On Wednesday, February 18th, from 6 pm to 7 pm at the Institución Libre de Enseñanza Madrid Design PRO, a round table discussion will delve into the physical book as a ritual of pause and source of inspiration, and how the sustained attention required for reading can become a powerful tool for interior design. The architect Carmelo Rodríguez, the landscape designer Álex Fenollar and the designer María De la Mata will participate, moderated by Laura Fuentes, head of event communication at Finsa.
FORMA Design Fair, the first fair of collectible design
After nine years of dialogue between professionals in habitat and design, Madrid Design Festival inaugurates FORMA Design Fair, a new event within its programme to give space to collectible design, thus becoming the first fair of its kind in Spain. It will be held between March 4 and 8 at Matadero Madrid and will feature exhibitors such as SANCAL, winner of the 2024 National Design Award.
