Blondie Club Madrid: a return to the sophistication of the 70s

Elegance, music and exclusivity. These are the three elements that define Blondie Club Madrid on its website, a nightclub and afternoon venue located in the centre of the capital. “The project was born with the intention of recreating the atmosphere of London’s private clubs, where exclusivity coexists with a feeling of warmth, combined with the unmistakable chic style of Parisian boîtes of the seventies”, summarises Ilmiodesign, the studio responsible for its design, regarding the project’s identity. They wanted a place that felt exclusive, but not boring. “It is a space that must be transformed: from a quiet lounge to a vibrant club through light, flexible furniture, and by creating surprises in every corner on every floor”, they describe.

Ceilings with mouldings, sculptural elements, velvet and carpeting… Blondie Club Madrid is a space of “casual luxury”, with a certain nostalgic touch and a lot of elegance. All of this is achieved through the materials, textures, and details, which reinforce the eclectic and sophisticated character of the project. “The metallic gleams, present in mouldings and furniture, in gold and brass, evoke the high-end mid-century aesthetic that runs throughout the premises”, they point out.

Furthermore, strategically placed mirrors visually expand the spaces and multiply the light, “recalling the disco era with a contemporary finish”, the studio explains.

The interplay of out-of-scale elements lends theatricality to the interior: the enormous hands holding the disco balls and the custom-designed lamps “dress the ceiling of the dance area”, while a series of backlit artworks, developed ad hoc for the project, dominate the most strategic spaces and reinforce the club’s visual narrative, the design studio points out.

Another important element for completing the atmosphere is the woodwork and mouldings that “envelop the spaces”. For this, they used FimaPan® IGN Decor Tasmanian Moka Boreal from Finsa, which conveys “ elegance and classicism”.

The Blondie Club also boasts a terrace that the design studio has envisioned as “a vibrant and energetic patio, both day and night”. Its aesthetic contrasts with the club’s darkness, offering a refreshing atmosphere while “maintaining a cohesive sense of luxury and lush vegetation”. Furthermore, the skylight is illuminated around its perimeter by LEDs, creating playful light effects that complement and enhance its open character.

At Ilmiodesign, they envision each project as a tailor-made suit, so they vary in materials, tones and textures. The Blondie Club Madrid is a perfect example of what comes out of their sketches when they are asked for elegance, exquisiteness and sophistication.
