Plantiverse: Autonomous plants that can reforest the world

Will plants become completely independent thanks to artificial intelligence and decentralised autonomous organisation?  Plantbots like Herbie tell us that the answer to that question is a big yes.  These plant prototypes use integrated technology created by Futurity Systems and are the foundation of Plantiverse, the ultimate goal of which is to reforest planet.

Herbie and its metaverse

Herbie the plantbot was officially launched at Mobile Congress 2023 and offered a futuristic vision: a plant with its own water tank, mounted on a wheeled platform and protected by a transparent dome.

Its sensors measure water levels, the humidity level of the soil, and other things like the air quality and light exposure.  Roboticization means it can send out a warning or move around to look for the resources it needs.  And that’s not all.

The most interesting part of the project is that it has a digital twin in the metaverse with which it can interact and ultimately generate trees as NFTs depending on how it’s doing (e.g., how many leaves it has, its colour, etc.)

These trees are monetised as works of art and can be sold without the need for bitcoin or configure a new cryptocurrency wallet, two common barriers for those trying to break into the world of virtual assets.

Virtual plants that can buy real plants

The final phase of the project is Herbie autonomously investing the money from those sales to reforest the real world via different environmental initiatives. Futurity Systems is currently working on making the digitally enhancing the heightened senses of these plantbots so that they can work with artistic tools for creating art as well as financial tools via distributed autonomous organisation (DAO).
