The 10 best design events in 2019

Good design is being appreciated now more than ever.  A good example of this is how the number of design fairs and design weeks across the world are multiplying every year.  Let’s start the year pencilling in the 10 best design events in 2019 in our diaries.

Design Made in Spain

Casa Decor

Madrid, from 24th January to 10th March

The main event for interior design and trends in Spain will be held in 86 Núñez de Balboa.  Interior designers, architects, and decorators from Spain and all over the world will create real spaces using the latest trends.

Madrid Design Festival

Madrid, from 1st to 28th February

With 202 activities, 53 exhibitions, 24 installations, and 410 design professionals, this festival, which was created to convey the importance of design, is in its second edition with no signs of stopping.

Barcelona Design Week

Barcelona, from 4th to 14th June

Organised by BCD Barcelona Centre de Desseny, it is the annual meeting place for companies and professionals that work in design, creativity, and innovation.  The program has events taking place throughout the city.

European capitals celebrate design

Milan Design Week y Salone del Mobile

Milan, from 8th to 14th April

This is the unmissable date in the design calendar.  In 2019, the Salone del Mobile will celebrate its 58th edition and it is still a drawcard. In addition to the furniture fair, every year the events that take place throughout Milan’s districts are attracting more attention: Brera, Tortona, Ventura…

Architect@work

London, 30th and 31st January

Manufacturers and distributors present innovative materials and products in a creative way at this event targeted exclusively at architects, interior designers, and construction professionals.  It’s the perfect combination of exhibition and conference and will focus on the future and building for tomorrow.

Maison & Objet          

Paris, from 18th to 22nd January

The main French design fair has two annual editions.  The first is in January and will maintain the update introduced during last year’s edition – the division into a showroom dedicated to interior design (Maison) and another dedicated to furniture and accessories (Objet).

London Festival of Architecture

London, from 1st to 20th June

It boasts of becoming the biggest annual architecture festival in the world and it lives up to this status with more than 500 events spread out over the city.  The theme this year will be limits, both tangible and intangible.

We can’t forget Germany, where there will be four design fairs taking place in January: Domotex, Heimtextil, Imm Cologne, and la BAU.

A trip around the world of design

Design Indaba

Cape Town, from 17th February to 1st March

African creative industries have had their own showcase at Indaba since 1995.  Indaba sees design as a way of creating a better future.

Singapur Design Week

Singapore, from 4th to 17th March

Local design joins international design at what has become the main design event in Asia.  A fair, conferences, exhibitions, and activities all to contribute to increasing the visibility of Asian design.

NYCxDesign

New York, from 10th to 22nd May

Industrial and product design, fashion, urban planning, architecture…it’s all included in the program for this festival.
