Five examples of virtual interior design

Virtual interior design is now a reality.  But where will it lead?  Here are five examples of NFTs that are part of a true revolution in the design sector:

 

The first NFT at Christie’s

Designer Misha Kahn and his collection of ten colourful NFT furniture pieces saw auction house Christie’s opt to sell digital art in blockchains for the first time.  “What is really interesting to me about the idea of selling an NFT of a design object is that you can express yourself in an object that doesn’t need to be materialised,” Kahn explained.

A virtual design studio and showroom

In January 2021, Crosby Studios launched a collection of homewares via a virtual showroom that can be explored and that lets you download 3D models of what’s on display.  This allows you to make sure that the object suits your requirements.

In March 2021, the studio opened a bricks-and-mortar space in Moscow that combined a boutique, a store, and a café, showing that hybridisation can be a virtuous circle.

The perfect example of phygital hybridisation

Space Popular studio is all about on the future of spaces.  To celebrate Dezeen’s fifteenth birthday, they decided to use virtual textiles reminiscent of nature to transform the experience of switching between digital worlds.  In doing so, they offered a more whimsical way to navigate the metaverse.
